The purpose of this blog is for its members to read through the entire Bible. We are all using the Daily Bible: in Chronological Order by F. Lagard Smith. We are starting and ending with the story of Jesus. Those who participate write a one sentence summary of what they learned about God and, if in the Old Testament, how the reading points to Jesus. Happy reading everyone!

Jesus is not only from the line of kings but is Himself King of kings as the Son of God.
Seeing the genealogy of Jesus makes him so much more real to me. It shows me that he was very human, born from a line of many other men--both great and wicked.
God prepared 42 generations of people to send Jesus into the world. God is so patient. Thank God for adopting us into his family to take part in the history until Jesus comes again. I can't wait.
Mary and Joseph were from the line of David, Jesus' birth was a fulfillment of God's promise to Adam, Abraham and David. Thank God for his unchanging love.
This account is the undeniable evidence that Jesus is indeed the promised Messiah sent by God. Gentiles and women are also included in Jesus' genealogy. God includes anyone in his history whose heart is after His.
This reminds me that Jesus was not a special, elevated human being designated by man, but rather sent from God. God planned out the genealogies perfectly and brought Jesus into the world at the perfect time, even though so many sins had already been committed earlier in the Bible.
God is so sovereign. This genealogy really connects the dots. Each person of each generation since the beginning has their own story of their encounters with God. There is a familial history of deep relationships with God. It's really beautiful how it comes together and glorifies Jesus, God's son.
